This Newsletter completes the last newsletter as in this issue we are going to give you a hands on idea how to make the binder paste. Most of the suppliers do not provide a hands on experience in making the binder paste, but today we are here to do exactly that. Basically there are three components while making a binder paste Thickener Paste Binder Paste Pigment There are two ways of making a binder paste. Both these way are equally good but they do show different properties in different environments and in different printing conditions.
F1 describes the way of making the paste where we first make the binder mixture and then we add the thickener to it, so has to get the desired vis-cosity.This kind of paste is very uniform. I am providing this formulation with estimate weghts but you can tweek as per your needs and requirements. First Start with 1-1.5 kg Binder Add 5 -6.5 kg water to it. Add 10gms Liquid Ammonia to this mixture. Add 15 gms Softener to this paste. Add now stirr them at high speed with a Motor controlled stirrer. Start adding Thickener and keep adding the thickener until desired Viscosity is achieved. Liquid Ammonia Balances the Ph of the paste. Softener helps in hand feel of the printed paste. Stirring is required for the proper mixing of the paste And as mentioned above thickener is used to adjust viscosity Issue 4, 16 March, 2015 Issue 4, 16 March, 2015 BINDER:F 2 BINDER SYSTEM In this method we are going to make seperate thickener paste and seperate binder First we start with the Thickener paste Mix Water, Ammonium Hydroxide and Thickener and stirr well Now we will make Binder System To make the Binder System you need to mix Binder, Crosslinking agent and softner. Now add the above two mixtures. Add pigment(5% to 35%). Add stock thickener, water or additional Binder during printing if required. Issue 4, 16 March, 2015 BINDER APPLICATION BINDER APPLICATION Gold Binder: Nowdays you get ready gold paste, but for all of you who want to create their custom tone follow the following steps. Add 80% gold binder and 20% Gold Powder. Good Quality gold pwder would be Belgium and Tacker gold Powder. Jari Binder: To print jari take 80% Jari Binder and 20% Jari. Youa can also print jari over khadi. For that you need to take Clear Jari Binder and use the same formula mentioned above. Issue 4, 16 March, 2015 Issue 4, 16 March, 2015 BINDER APPLICATION BINDER APPLICATION Khadi Binder is another kind of binder used for making khadi as is obvious from the name. The process is bit different and is as follows. Mix the following items: 900gm Khadi Binder 1Kg Rutile 0.5 Liquid Ammonia Stock the following mixture for two to three days.Then add 1kg Clear paste to it. If required 2% fixer can be added to the mixture. Spray Binder: A new trend has come that is using cutout stencil and spraying ink at high pressure on to the textile garment. Nowdays you get ready made inks for such process but if are interested in reducing print cost and want to make your own mixture for this purpose you can use Crown T40 and Crown Binder 94 in 50:50 ration and add pigment to it to get the desired result.
